Mechanical Engineer - OHB Sweden
OHB Sweden is a leading Swedish supplier of space systems. We develop, build, test and commission satellites and subsystems for space missions in, for example, communication, earth observation and space research for institutional and commercial customers within and outside Europe.
Building a satellite requires a broad range of expertise, involving the analysis, design, manufacturing, and testing of both hardware and software. At OHB Sweden, we offer engineers an exceptional opportunity to expand their technical skills across all domains.
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer with experience in the complete chain from CAD mechanical design, FEM analysis, and generation of production drawings to follow-on testing of the manufactured product.
Collaborating with external partners (customers, payload suppliers, etc.) to define and implement mechanical interfaces will be an integral part of your daily responsibilities.
Why Join Us?
- Dynamic Work Environment: Engage in a vibrant, international setting with numerous collaboration partners, primarily in Europe.
- Comprehensive Skill Development: Enhance your expertise in various technical domains, from Mechanical design to System engineering.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with system, electrical, thermal, and AIT engineers in the development of cutting-edge satellites.
What We’re Looking For:
- A structured, motivated, and quick-learning team player.
- Ability to work independently while meeting agreed delivery schedules.
- Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with diverse teams.
If you are passionate about pushing the boundaries of space technology and eager to contribute to innovative satellite projects, we would love to hear from you!
If you wish to participate to the development of future space systems, feel confident that your experience and qualifications match the above requirements and want to find yourself in a dynamic and inspiring work environment, then we very much look forward to hearing from you!
Task Description:
- Design mechanical, structural, and dynamic components using CAD and FEM, focusing on stress, shock, and random vibration analyses.
- Generate manufacturing drawings from CAD models.
- Supervise off-site manufacturing of parts and inspect delivered items.
- Support on-site assembly of end products, such as spacecraft structures.
- Define and design test specifications, procedures, and setups for subsystem qualification (structures, mechanisms, units, components, actuators).
- Correlate FE models (e.g., fundamental frequencies, damping coefficients) with actual test results.
- Assist in planning and budgeting for future programs and projects.
- Design, assemble, and test mechanical ground support equipment (MGSE) for integration and test activities.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related disciplines.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in design and testing/production environments
- Relevant experience in design and testing environments related to CAD, mechanical FEM analysis, and construction (experience in aerospace or automotive industries is a plus).
- Proficiency in FEM analysis, particularly in random vibration response, shock, and loads analysis.
- Ability to generate, read, and understand mechanical design/analysis reports and Interface Control Documents (ICDs).
- Clear and coherent reporting and presentation skills in English.
- Experience in design-to-manufacture processes.
- Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
