Spacecraft System Engineer
OHB Sweden is a leading Swedish supplier of space systems. We develop, build, test and commission satellites and subsystems for a wide range of missions - including communications, Earth observation, and space research and exploration- serving both institutional and commercial customers within and outside Europe.
As a Systems Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting all aspects of space systems engineering. You will lead a team of (sub-systems) engineers throughout both study phases and implementation projects, ensuring the successful delivery of complex space missions. In addition to project execution, you will collaborate with Business Development and Sales teams to identify and pursue new opportunities by contributing to system-level technical architecture and proposals.
You bring broad experience across multiple areas of systems engineering, including spacecraft architecture design, requirements management, system modeling, and failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA). Experience working with technically advanced and demanding customers - such as ESA or NASA - is highly desirable. In this role, you will be responsible for negotiating technical requirements with customers, leading requirements analysis and decomposition into lower-level specifications, and requirement verification. You will also oversee subsystem and external interfaces, maintain overall system budgets, and provide technical leadership to guide and coordinate the engineering team’s work.
It is desirable that you have a solid technical background in one or more of the following spacecraft engineering areas:
- Mechanical/Thermal
- Electrical/RF/EMC
- Data handling/Software
- Attitude and orbit control / Orbital mechanics
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in related Engineering discipline
- At least 3 years of experience in space systems engineering
- Fluent in the English language , both spoken and written
- Excellent interpersonal skills and communications capabilities
- A good personal drive with a commitment to meeting agreed deadlines
- Experience using MATLAB
- Experience using DOORS or other requirements management tool
- Located in, or willingness to relocate to, Stockholm, Sweden
- Legal authorization to work in Sweden
Added advantageous qualifications:
- Experience with ESA programs and projects or other large international collaborations
- Experience in one or more of a project’s life cycle starting from feasibility analysis (Phase A) through Preliminary Design (Phase B) and project implementation (Phases C/D/E)
About You:
We’re looking for a proactive team player who learns quickly, provides technical guidance to colleagues, and can also work independently. Strong problem-solving skills, initiative, and a pragmatic approach are essential - focusing on achieving the right balance of quality and timely delivery.
If you’re ready to be part of our journey and contribute to complex and exciting projects, we’d love to hear from you! 🛰️
