Master Thesis: Spacecraft fleet trend analysis
OHB Sweden is a leading Swedish provider of space systems. We develop, build, test, and operate satellites and subsystems for space missions in areas such as communication, Earth observation, and space research, serving both institutional and commercial customers in Europe and beyond. OHB Sweden offers an exciting workplace where you will contribute to the future of space development.
Now we’re looking for a Master’s student who wants to do their Master’s thesis with us!
Job overview:
OHB Sweden operates multiple satellites, each producing substantial health and performance telemetry data. We are seeking a Master Thesis Student to investigate and implement a long-term trend monitoring system for on-board equipment, capable of distinguishing between nominal behavior and out-of-trend anomalies.
The tasks of the master's thesis topic are as follows:
The thesis will focus on analyzing real-life satellite telemetry collected during operations. Key tasks include:
- Process raw telemetry data
- Implementation of methods for long-term trend monitoring, distinguishing between nominal behavior and out-of-trend anomalies.
- Visualizations of the results to support interpretation and decision-making.
The goal is to create an end-to-end system that provides actionable insights from satellite telemetry in an automated and visual format. The thesis aims to advance current practices in satellite health monitoring and provides a foundation for more autonomous and intelligent spacecraft operations.
The required candidate’s skills are:
- Students in the field of Data science, Statistics/Programming, Engineering
- Programming skills, preferably in Python
- Databases
- Feature engineering
- Visualisation
- Structured work style with good analytic skills
- Communication (English) and team skills
- Independent mode of operation in a goal and results-oriented manner
- Knowledge of machine learning is desirable, but not required
What can we offer you, as a student, to succeed in your master's thesis?
This Master’s thesis offers a unique opportunity to contribute to satellite health monitoring for operations while gaining hands-on experience in the space industry. Throughout the project, you will receive guidance and technical support from OHB Sweden’s experienced engineering team. Successful completion of the thesis may also open the door to future employment opportunities within OHB Sweden.
We're looking forward to your application!
